On May 31, a special lecture on "Terahertz Non-destructive Testing Technology" was held in Tianyou Building, presented by Professor Hu Weidong, director of the Terahertz Science Application Research Center. Professor Shao Liwei, member of the Beijing Institute of Technology (Zhuhai) Joint Working Committee and director of the Greater Bay Area Innovation Institute, attended the event and delivered a speech. The lecture attracted more than 140 participants, including guests from dozens of units such as Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou University, Nari Radar, Changyuan Technology, Black Horse Technology, and Jiankun Precision Machinery, as well as teachers and students from the campus.
Hu Weidong provided a comprehensive and systematic explanation of the overview of terahertz non-destructive testing, key technologies of terahertz CT, and applications of terahertz technology. Terahertz technology has been applied in non-destructive testing imaging. Over the years, Hu Weidong's team has overcome key technologies such as ultra-wideband terahertz signal generation and quasi-optical synthesis methods based on frequency-division time-division multiplexing, ultra-wideband terahertz signal nonlinearity calibration methods, multi-band signal fusion, and image restoration based on convolutional neural networks. They have developed a 110GHz~500GHz ultra-wideband non-destructive testing imaging system, which can achieve three-dimensional tomographic imaging and high-precision non-destructive testing of composite materials. It features good penetration, large bandwidth, and high resolution. The achievements have been successfully applied to the detection of aerospace composite materials, antenna radomes, wind turbine blades, cultural relics, explosives, and IC integrated circuits. In the lecture, Professor Hu Weidong shared his feelings and thoughts after participating in major national scientific research projects with a seven-character quatrain he wrote: "霜重峰红峡水清,瀑飞山险石峥嵘,满斟秦岭人家酒,直下蓝关取灞城." He encouraged researchers and students to study hard and contribute to the country through scientific research, inspiring the attendees.

The number of attendees at this lecture exceeded expectations. In addition to the main venue and online venue, two branch venues were also set up. The report content was insightful and exciting, and was well-received by teachers and students. Hu Weidong's witty and humorous remarks won rounds of applause. In the interactive exchange session, participants conducted in-depth discussions on the industrial application prospects and future research directions of terahertz detection.
